A method of analysing the metal concentration of soil or artifacts. Atomic-absorption (AA) spectroscopy uses the absorption of light to measure the concentration of particular metal atoms in gas. Since samples are usually liquids or solids, the sample must be vaporized in a flame or graphite furnace. The element concentration is determined from the amount of absorption.
