[edit] Granular Structure
Also sometimes referred to as a crumb structure.
Structure refers to the shape of the aggregates of soil material in a soil. A granular structure is one in which the aggregates have an equant, approximately spherical shape. Usually granular structures (peds) are between 2 mm and 2 cm in size. Granular and crumb are also used to describe microstructures in soil micromorphology, however, in this context they have different meanings. Crumb microaggregates are porous whereas granular microaggregates are non-porous.
