[edit] Podzol

A leached soil, usually on sandy acid parent materials. It may have a mor humus topsoil sometimes overlying a horizon of characteristically bleached sand, which in turn overlies a darker or redder deposit containing concentrations of iron and/or fine organic matter (Spodic horizon).
