Any form of water such as rain, drizzle, snow, sleet, snow grains, snow pellets, diamond dust, ice pellets or hail, that falls from the atmosphere to the earth's surface. The quantity of such water falling in a specific area within a specific period is measured by meteorologists as the precipitation.
