[edit] Rare Earth Elements
Chemical elements with atomic numbers between 57 and 71, including Lanthanum, Cerium, Europium, Erbium, and Holmium. Despite their name many are relatively common, but were originally called rare because they were unknown in their elemental form and are difficult to extract from rocks.
