[edit] Ripple Marks

A pattern of sinuous (wavy) ridges formed at the surface of a sedimentary bed by wind, water currents or waves. Ripple marks can provide information about current direction and strength and are useful way-up criteria for establishing the depostional orientation of sedimentary units.
