[edit] Multi-user sites
As sites usually have multiple excavators recording different sections and contexts, it is possible for each excavator to have their own field tool account where they input their soil and sediment descriptions. The field tool uses a system of imports and permissions to allow one designated user such as the site supervisor or director to collate individual users data into a single site report. This process is done by the following proceedure.
- The levels of Site Data, Trench/Section Data and Context Data each have a data box to be filled in on Usernames permitted to access this section data. If the excavator wants the site supervisor to be able to obtain their soil and sediment description they would put the username of that person in this data box.
- The supervisor can then import the excavator's description. This is done by logging into the field tool using their own username and in the soil description there is an option to click on Import or Add beside Add a new archeological site. Clicking on Add will enable the user to input their own data on a site, but by clicking on Import it is possible to enter the username and name of the site, section or context code that you wish to import.
- After this has been inputed, the new code will appear in the supervisor's description.
- It is now possible for the supervisor to view and change the excavator's description.
