Reading and Using SASSA Wiki
The SASSA Wiki is open to anyone with web users, you do not need to register with the site to read any of it's content. The content is divided into different sections called Namespaces. These are:
- The basic MediaWiki Namespaces, including:
- Main - SASSA Home Page, Contacts, and other information pages.
- Help - Help pages for SASSA Wiki and SASSA Field Tool.
- News - Project news and Conference pages.
- Special - Special pages including search facilities, file upload.
- User - Personal information pages for each registered user.
- The SASSA Wiki content Namespaces:
- Geoarchaeology - Information section providing pages explaining the scope of geoarchaeology and the types of geoarchaeological research questions.
- Tutorial - Information section providing a guided tutorial on soil and sediment processes, soil formation, and archaeological soils.
- Field Analysis - Information section providing information on why and how to record soil properties, and sampling techniques.
- Analytical Methods - Information section providing information about a range of field, laboratory, and specialist analytical techniques.
- Case Studies - A database of case studies illustrating the use of geoarchaeological methods.
- Glossary - A glossary of earth science terms.
In general the content of each page is text based, but may also include:
- Tables
- Images
- Links to other pages. These are shown in blue and are activated by clicking on them.
- Attached files e.g. pdf, or rtf, accessed by clicking on the link or icon.
Images are generally presented as thumbnails to create a clean page look, as shown opposite. However, clicking on the enlarge icon in the bottom right hand corner of the image will bring up the full-size image.
