[edit] SASSA Wiki Style Tips
[edit] Headings
The page title should have 1st order heading tags: ==Page Title==. This should be the only 1st order heading in the content. If you feel you need to use another 1st order heading lower down in the content you should consider creating a new page. 1st Order Headings should have the first letter of each word capitalised.
Sub headings should use second order heading tags: ===Sub-heading=== and third order heading tags: ====Sub-sub-heading====
Only the first letter of the first word should be capitalised for second and third order headings. Do not jump directly from 1st order to third order headings.
[edit] Links
It should be clear from the link exactly where it goes to. To achieve this please use the following conventions.
[edit] Glossary links
Only Glossary links should be embedded in the body of the text. E.g. If a soil is oxidised the iron it contains will be in its Fe3+ ferric form.
On the page this will appear as:

[edit] Page links
Links to other SASSA Wiki pages (excepting the Glossary) should not be embedded in the text. They may be created as lists of links. For example:
For more information on these processes choose from the list below:
- Processes of Weathering and Erosion
- Processes of Deposition and Accumulation
- Soil Forming Processes and Classification Schemes
On the page it will look like this:

- Processes of Deposition and Accumulation
- Soil Forming Processes and Classification Schemes
Alternatively include the link in a sentence explicitly saying where it goes. For example:
More information on field soil pH determination can be found here.
Use the bold tags to make the link more obvious, otherwise they have a tendency to melt into the page. On the page this looks like:
More information on field soil pH determination can be found here.
[edit] External links
SASSA Wiki automatically recognises external links and add a small icon to the link to differentiate them from internal links.
Where possible external links should be listed in a sub-section at the bottom of the page titled External resources. The web url should be surrounded by single square brackets and the link text should explain the nature of the site being linked too. For example:
* Kevin Greene's Archaeology: an introduction, online companion, Dating the Past
On the page, this will look like this:
If the link has to be included in the main body of the text include the link in a sentence explaining where the link goes and do not use square brackets so that the url of the site is clearly visible. For example:
Many chemical safety data sheets are available from this Oxford University based database http://ptcl.chem.ox.ac.uk/~hmc/hsci/chemicals/hsci_chemicals_list.html
On the page this will look like this:
Many chemical safety data sheets are available from this Oxford University based database http://ptcl.chem.ox.ac.uk/~hmc/hsci/chemicals/hsci_chemicals_list.html
[edit] Images
Images ahould be in jpg, gif or png format. Images should where possible be added as thumbnails and be placed to the right of the text; this creates a neat page look and users can see the full size image simply by clicking on it. To create a thumb nail:

On the page this will appear as:
