The identification and interpretation of anthropogenic deposits is at the core of archaeology as it is these deposits that allow us to reconstruct past lives and systems of living.
Anthropogenic deposits include:
- Occupation deposits
- Wastes: domestic and industrial
- Made ground
- Construction and degradation levels
- Amended or made soils, such as plaggen, and garden soil
